From Utterances to Speech Acts

By Mikhail Kissine

"Kissine offers a new theory of speech acts which is philosophically sophisticated and builds on work in cognitive science, formal semantics, and linguistic typology. This highly readable, brilliant essay is a major contribution to the field."

--François Recanati, Institut Jean-Nicod

Description
This learned society exists to promote and further the study of all aspects of the languages of Scotland and Ulster. Forum members are interested in the full range of historical and extant languages spoken and/or written in these two closely-linked countries. The Forum for Research in the Languages of Scotland and Ulster, in its present form, is the outcome of two independent ventures, at first unrelated except by their common motive of increasing the amount of academic and popular attention paid to Scots and Gaelic. Learned association is beginning to publish free-to-view peer-reviewed volumes.
