The Association for Computational Linguistics and Chinese Language Processing (ACLCLP) was initiated in 1988 by the program committee of the first conference on Chinese computational linguistics (ROCLING I). The committee members included Keh-jiann Chen, Chu-Ren Huang, Hsi-Jian Lee, I-Peng Ling and Keh-Yih Su. The committee reached a consensus that it was the time to constitute an academic association for computational linguistics specializing in Chinese languages. Ching-Chun Hsieh was elected to be the chair of the founding committee and the first president of the association for computational linguistics and Chinese language processing. In 1990, the association was formally founded. Currently, the ACLCLP has more than 200 members, including 113 life members and 12 corporate members.

Welcome to the Evolution Publishing. We are a small press founded in 1994 and based in historic Bristol, Pennsylvania. Nearby, William Penn signed his famous treaty with Tamanend of the Lenape, General George Washington made his daring Christmas Eve crossing of the Delaware, and just down the road in Philadelphia, a young Benjamin Franklin published his Pennsylvania Gazette and Poor Richard's Almanac. ICSG has its institutional base in the Faculty of Arts, University of Ibadan, Ibadan.
The Studies Group which is made up of scholars drawn from different universities in Nigeria and with bias in cultural studies, is motivated by purposes which include the promotion of folklore scholarship and academic excellence and making cultural scholarship breakthrough its seemingly rigid boundary in order to encourage and embrace a more lively and relevant inter-disciplinary discourse. The Studies Group aims among others to promote the extension of the frontiers of cultural scholarship, formulation of explanatory models, searching for a more adequate theory or set of theories for the purpose of application and facilitation through organized seminars, symposia, workshops, international conferences, and through publication of ISESE: Ibadan Journal of Folklore, ISESE Monograph Series, ISESE Study Series (Classroom Textbooks) and encouragement of budding creative writers.

The International Council of Onomastic Sciences (ICOS) is the international organization for all scholars who have a special interest in the study of names (place-names, personal names, and proper names of all other kinds). The aim of the Council is the advancement, representation and co-ordination of name-research on an international level and in an interdisciplinary context. This new organization replaces the former International Committee of Onomastic Sciences which, as a closed society, exclusively co-opted representatives of countries and was therefore not open to individual scholars.

La revue des étudiants en ling. du Québec/Quebec Students Journal of Ling.
|
| |
The Quebec Students Journal of Linguistics is a completely free online bilingual linguistics journal (in French and English). Our goal is to distribute articles of students in linguistics directly on our web site. For logistic reasons, the domains concerned are the following: phonology, phonetics, syntax, morphology, semantics, sociolinguistics (including languages in contact, creole studies, and variationist linguistics), dialectology, discourse analysis, pragmatics, lexicology, lexicography, natural language processing (NLP), sign languages and language acquisition. However, this orientation is not definitive and will evolve as it pleases the students that join us in this enterprise.
The different issues, published twice a year (fall and spring), will be made up of independent or occasionally organized articles according to research themes, unpublished conference summaries and reviews of recently published works.

MIT Press

The MIT Press is the only university press in the United States whose list is based in science and technology. This does not mean that science and engineering are all we publish, but it does mean that we are committed to the edges and frontiers of the world -- to exploring new fields and new modes of inquiry. (For a time we described our publishing program as chasing "The Moving Frontier," but we've moved beyond even that.) We publish about 200 new books a year and over 40 journals. We are a major publishing presence in fields as diverse as architecture, social theory, economics, cognitive science, and computational science, and we have a long-term commitment to both design excellence and the efficient and creative use of new technologies. Our goal is to create books and journals that are challenging, creative, attractive, and yet affordable to individual readers.

The University of Connecticut Working Papers in Linguistics is a publication of the graduate students at the University of Connecticut. It provides a venue for students, faculty and other affiliated linguists to make their current research available to the wider linguistic community. Our goal is to publish contributions that are still in the early stages of development in order to encourage an active discussion of fresh ideas from all areas of specialization. The volumes will appear (semi)-annually and are distributed by MIT Working Papers in Linguistics, that also distributes UCONN dissertations in Linguistics.

UiL OTS aims at developing scientific expertise in the systems underlying language, speech and their use. The institute's objective is threefold: to increase our understanding of language and speech, to train researchers who will be able to make a valuable contribution to this field of knowledge, and to share our knowledge with institutions beyond the academic world. We also participate actively in joint research with other disciplines such as logic, computer science, neuroscience, biology, psychology and sociology. At UiL OTS, the human language faculty is studied from a wide range of perspectives: Computational Linguistics & Logic, Experimental Psycholinguistics, Language Development (Language Acquisition and Language Teaching), Language Use, Morphology & Phonology, Phonetics, Syntax & Semantics. UiL OTS seeks to exploit the synergies between these various areas to the full. See http://www-uilots.let.uu.nl/

The Centre for General Linguistics, Typology and Universals Research (ZAS) is a university-independent research centre located in the federal state of Berlin. Its objective is the investigation of natural language and its manifestation in individual languages. Universals are properties that are common to all languages; these can be said to be due to similarities in the biological and cognitive make-up of humans, as well as to the similar role that language plays within all human communities. Typology is the documentation and classification of systematic differences which indicate that the pressure to optimise - to which all languages are subject - in order to satisfy the demands imposed by biological, cognitive and communicative factors can lead to different solutions in different languages.
