The Structural Design of Language

By Thomas S. Stroik, Michael T. Putnam

In this book, Stroik and Putnam take on Turing's challenge. They argue that the narrow syntax – the lexicon, the Numeration, and the computational system – must reside, for reasons of conceptual necessity, within the performance systems.

Query Details

Query Subject:   PALM - a journal?
Author:   Simone Mueller
Submitter Email:  click here to access email

Query:   Can anybody help me with the following reference?

Hays, P.R. ''Discourse markers and L2 acquisition''. PALM (7) 1992

I assume that PALM is a journal, but our library has not been able
to find the reference. If PALM is an acronym, what does it stand
for? Or does anybody know P.R. Hays or his/her article?

I appreciate any hint!

Address Forms in Classroom

I am a Ph.D. student conducting a study on the use of address forms between
teachers and students/pupils and that among students/pupils in classroom. I
have done some studies in Japanese, and I would like to know the examples
from classrooms involving other languages (particularly different varieties
of English).

I would like to ask you several questions by e-mail involving the use of
address forms by teachers and students (which would take no longer than 10
minutes to complete) on the above topic. Anyone who can volunteer to help me
with the survey, please contact me at y.taniguchi@reading.ac.uk

I would also appreciate it if anyone who is working on the same topic to
exchange information.

Thank you very much.
