I seem to notice that many people in North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and maybe Wisconsin, say ''a couple'' rather than ''a couple of'' when constructing a sentence like ''There are a couple of lines left to finish.'' This would be rendered: ''There are a couple lines left to finish.'' Tom Fitzsimmons. |
