The Structural Design of Language

By Thomas S. Stroik, Michael T. Putnam

In this book, Stroik and Putnam take on Turing's challenge. They argue that the narrow syntax – the lexicon, the Numeration, and the computational system – must reside, for reasons of conceptual necessity, within the performance systems.

Query:   I am currently engaged in analysing the prevalence of figurative
language in normal and disordered language output. I am particularly
interested in the use of metaphors. I am struggling to find a way of
catergorising and quantifying metaphors and am interested to hear
about other attempts to do this. Can anyone suggest some useful
references? I am happy to provide a summary of the information
received if there is sufficient interest.
