The Structural Design of Language

By Thomas S. Stroik, Michael T. Putnam

In this book, Stroik and Putnam take on Turing's challenge. They argue that the narrow syntax – the lexicon, the Numeration, and the computational system – must reside, for reasons of conceptual necessity, within the performance systems.

Query Subject:   Interaction of Epenthesis and Vowel Harmony?
Author:   Sara Finley
Submitter Email:  click here to access email

Linguistic LingField(s):  Phonology

Query:   I am looking for informaiton about the typology of interactions between
epenthesis (deletion too, if relevant) and vowel harmony. For example, are
there languages where the epenthetic vowel is transparent/opaque to harmony
or does the epenthetic vowel always participate?

If anyone has any insights on references, example languages, it would be
highly appreciated, and I will post my results on Linguist if there is
interest.
