From Utterances to Speech Acts

By Mikhail Kissine

"Kissine offers a new theory of speech acts which is philosophically sophisticated and builds on work in cognitive science, formal semantics, and linguistic typology. This highly readable, brilliant essay is a major contribution to the field."

--François Recanati, Institut Jean-Nicod

Query:   Dear Linguists,

Does anyone know the present situations of a wild child Genie? She must
be about 43 years old by now. I would like to know whether she is still
alive, whether any researchers still monitor her linguistic development,
and her overall well being (language, cognition, physical conditions,
etc.).

If you have any knowldege about Genie (beyond the documentary footage
presented by Nature, PBS), please respond to me at my e-mail add.

Thank you in advance.
