Dear all,
I'm interested in research on popular culture, in particular linguistic analyses of contemporary TV series such as ''Six Feet Under'', ''Sex and the City'', ''Gilmore Girls'' etc. While I'm particularly interested in references for corpus-based work, any information will be greatly appreciated. I'm aware of the following research: Bubel, C. 2006. ''The linguistic construction of character relations in TV drama:Doing friendship in Sex and the City'' PhD dissertation, Universitaet des Saarlandes (available online) Mittman, B. 2006. ''With a little help from Friends (and others): Lexico-pragmatic characteristics of original and dubbed film dialogue'', in: Christoph Houswitschka, Gabriele Knappe, Anja Müller (Hrsg.): Anglistentag 2005, Bamberg – Proceedings. Trier: WVT, 573-585. Munt, S. R. 2006. ''Anxiety and reparation in the HBO television drama series Six Feet Under''. Feminist Media Studies 6/3: 263-279. Tagliamonte, S. & C. Roberts 2005. ''So weird, so cool, so innovative: the use of intensifiers in the television series Friends''. American Speech 80/3:280-300. Thanks, Monika |
