From Utterances to Speech Acts

By Mikhail Kissine

"Kissine offers a new theory of speech acts which is philosophically sophisticated and builds on work in cognitive science, formal semantics, and linguistic typology. This highly readable, brilliant essay is a major contribution to the field."

--François Recanati, Institut Jean-Nicod

Sociolinguistics: Language and Identity

Dear all on LINGUIST,

Can someone point me to material (studies, books, recent articles etc.) on the sociolinguistic topic language and identity please. I am particularly interested in language and identity in relation to German (e.g. Austria, Switzerland, Belgium etc. etc.)

- Perhaps someone is currently working on that topic?

Many thanks!
