From Utterances to Speech Acts

By Mikhail Kissine

"Kissine offers a new theory of speech acts which is philosophically sophisticated and builds on work in cognitive science, formal semantics, and linguistic typology. This highly readable, brilliant essay is a major contribution to the field."

--François Recanati, Institut Jean-Nicod

Query:   Dear colleagues,

Could you please recommend a good textbook for an introductory
course in phonology? By being 'good' I mean student-oriented,
accessible, having practical assignments, and providing food for
thought.

I am going to use it in conjunction with Ladefoged & Johnson's 'A
Course in Phonetics' for teaching a class in phonetics and phonology.

I will post a summary after I get enough feedback.

Thank you for your help!
