Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. What is English? And Why Should We Care?

By: Tim William Machan

To find some answers Tim Machan explores the language's present and past, and looks ahead to its futures among the one and a half billion people who speak it. Query:   Hello,

I am a Master's student writing a thesis on expressions of guilt and
remorse in the English and Russian languages. I am conducting a
survey as part of my research, and I need your help.

I would be very grateful if you would give about 10 minutes of your time
and take part in the survey. Also, if you have friends, family,
colleagues, or students that would be willing to take this survey as well,
I would very much appreciate if you could pass it on to them.

As for confidentiality, the survey results will not identify an individual
participant. The questions are hypothetical and very general. Also,
your computer's IP address will not be included when you submit the
survey, so I will not have any information about the computer you used
to take it. While the survey is expected to take about 10 minutes, you
are free to take as much time with it as you like. If, for any reason, you
wish to abandon the survey at any moment, you are welcome to do so
as well.

You have to be at least 18 years old to participate in this survey.

The link below takes you to the survey. If you have any questions, you
can contact me at sleviti@calstatela.edu. Thank you in advance for all
your help!
