My research involves the analysis of full sentences and the linguistic
structure within a team task. Typically, context-free grammar analysis is applied at a sentence level, and what I need is a similar analysis at a dialog level (where each sentence can be treated as a complete token). My problem is that I do not have the terminology that is used within linguistics so that I can find the correct type of research references for my work. I am confident that such research has been performed, and I am hopeful that this listserv can guide me to the expert researchers in this field of research. I have exhausted my resources on campus and I am just not making any progress. An example of what I am looking at is as follows: **The combination of sentences creates a communication pattern. **A very simple example with the following definitions: command (Cx), question (Qx), statement (Sx), response (Rx), where “x”is the source. So a C1 means that person #1 made a command and Q2 means that person #2 asked a question, etc. C1Q2Q3S1C1S1 versus C1Q2S1Q3C1S1 Part of my team research will be answering the following: Are these the same communication? Do these produce the same team results? I hope this has made some sense and that perhaps you would know of specific linguistic researchers that are leading in this area of analysis. I apologize for wasting anybody's time, as I am just very stuck. Additionally, I will need to discuss the detailed conditions where the sentences are further categorized. |
