From Utterances to Speech Acts

By Mikhail Kissine

"Kissine offers a new theory of speech acts which is philosophically sophisticated and builds on work in cognitive science, formal semantics, and linguistic typology. This highly readable, brilliant essay is a major contribution to the field."

--François Recanati, Institut Jean-Nicod

Query:   I am doing a PhD. degree in English Language. The dissertation thesis involves the analysis of English pronunciation mistakes made by Slovak speakers in a spontaneous speech.

Therefore, I am searching for native speakers of English who would be willing to analyze roughly 40 two-minute recordings. The instructions on the auditory analysis are clear as well as simple and it does not take much time to perform. Two analyses would take place; one now and the other one in June 2013 (after students have received their phonetic training.

It is not necessary for the native speakers to have phonetic training.

Perhaps, it would be best if the natives consisted of both - phonetically trained people as well as people who do not have this training and do not use English for professional purposes.

Thanks very much for your help and response.
