From Utterances to Speech Acts

By Mikhail Kissine

"Kissine offers a new theory of speech acts which is philosophically sophisticated and builds on work in cognitive science, formal semantics, and linguistic typology. This highly readable, brilliant essay is a major contribution to the field."

--François Recanati, Institut Jean-Nicod

Linguistic LingField(s):  Phonetics
Subject Language(s):  English

Query:   I am looking for native speakers of English who would be willing to analyze English pronunciation within 44 two-minute recordings of spontaneous speech produced by Slovak speakers.

Instructions are fairly clear and very simple. I am searching for both English native speakers who have phonetic training as well as English native speakers who do not have phonetic training.

The aim of my research is to find out more about how the native speakers of English perceive the pronunciation of Slovak students and what they consider to be inappropriate, strange or incorrect in terms of L2 pronunciation.

Thank you very much.
