The Structural Design of Language

By Thomas S. Stroik, Michael T. Putnam

In this book, Stroik and Putnam take on Turing's challenge. They argue that the narrow syntax – the lexicon, the Numeration, and the computational system – must reside, for reasons of conceptual necessity, within the performance systems.

Query:   Hi everyone.

I am currently doing a study on Chinese character acquisition by Malay L2 learners. My focus will be on the transition from an alphabetic language to a logographic language.

Despite considerable time spent searching for relevant tasks, I could not find suitable tasks for young adult learners. Most studies have been done with children. Some did look into the transition of language acquisition, but they focused on the transition from a logographic language to an alphabetic language.

Thank you very much for your help and response.
