From Utterances to Speech Acts

By Mikhail Kissine

"Kissine offers a new theory of speech acts which is philosophically sophisticated and builds on work in cognitive science, formal semantics, and linguistic typology. This highly readable, brilliant essay is a major contribution to the field."

--François Recanati, Institut Jean-Nicod

Query:   I'm a Brazilian researcher working with inflected infinitives and I am now
interested in dialectal diferences between the Brazilian and the European
dialects. This is, then, a request for judgements from *European*
Portuguese speakers.

For each sentence below, please give your grammaticality judgement for the
version with inflected infinitive and the version with uninflected
infinitive, saying, for each version, if it is acceptable or not.

Replies should be sent directly to modesto@usp.br and I'll send a summary
of the replies to the list. Thank you all in advance.
