From Utterances to Speech Acts

By Mikhail Kissine

"Kissine offers a new theory of speech acts which is philosophically sophisticated and builds on work in cognitive science, formal semantics, and linguistic typology. This highly readable, brilliant essay is a major contribution to the field."

--François Recanati, Institut Jean-Nicod

Summary:   Dear Linguists,

First of all, let me thank all of you who have taken the time to send
me all sorts of information on the syntactic calque. Most of it has
been references to previous work on that or related fields, and
references to articles and books that will come out in the near
future. I'm not including the list of references here because it is
very extensive, but if anyone would like to receive it, please let me
know.

Also, I would appreciate any more comments on the notion of syntactic
calque itself, from whatever field of interest. Thank you again,

Cristina Corcoll
