Title: L1/L2 Acquisition of Suprasegmentals (Intonation)
Submitter: Tanja Angelovska
Description: Dear all,

I was wondering if anyone of you has any ideas about sharing with me ideas
about the topic, literature and sharing contacts of colleagues working on
second/foreign language acquisition of suprasegmentals, in particular
intonation. I am writing my PhD thesis at the University of Munich and my
main research question is how can the different proficiency of near-native
accent of adult second language learners be explained with focus on intonation.

As far as I am informed the area of segmentals has been far more researched
than the one about acquiring (in the case of immigrants) or learning (in
the case of foreign language learners) of the suprasegmentals.

I would be extremely happy if you inform me about some person(s) who has
the same research interests (or if you are one of them) so that we can
exchange ideas (or maybe I found an additional supervisor from abroad).

Also, I was wondering about what kind of software you use in order to
transcribe intonation. I have heard about PRAAT and looked at their home
page. After installing the program, it seems to me too complicated, so I am
not quite sure about which parameters exactly are used for transcribing and
analyzing intonation.

I would be grateful for any input or information that can help me.

Thank you in advance

Kind regards
Tanja Angelovska M.A.
