"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. Title: Programming languages from a Linguistics POV

Description: Hi everyone:
I'm a grad student at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona (UPF) and wanted to ask for some information/ideas for a project I may start at some point in the future (unrelated to my PhD).

I was wondering if there has been any study about programming languages from a strictly Linguistic point of view, i.e. not from the usual CompSci point of view centered on performance, abstraction capabilities, interfaces, etc. In other words, I'm interested on the question
