"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. Title: Translation: Exam Papers in Non-mother Tongue

Description: I am engaged in a research project on the educational impact of using
translated exam papers in high/secondary schools where the language of
teaching is a non-mother tongue/second language (e.g. in South Africa:
English exam paper, with questions translated into Zulu).

I would like to consult experiences of similar issues, and would appreciate
it if I could be provided with information on where reports on this issue
can be found.
