Jost Gippert: Our Featured Linguist!

"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. Title: Linguistic Resources: Verb Ontology
Submitter: Arun Majumdar
Description: Dear Fellow Linguists,

A resource update is available for a free, public domain, Verb Ontology.
The resources are provided in the Prolog programming language as Prolog
predicates and so should be easy to export to any other formats with a
simple prolog rule.

I expect to update the resources once every two months on average and to
provide as much functionality as possible. I am open to any suggestions or
ideas and will be happy to provide anyone that wishes to contribute verb
resources a means to do so.

The link is available here:

http://www-csli.stanford.edu/~arunm/

I hope that this will help students and researchers in their work. All
predicates should run under any Prolog language environment.

Thank you,

Arun Majumdar
