| Description: | Dear Linguists, Computational Linguistics Laboratory (CLL) at Katanov State University of Khakasia (KSU) is pleased to announce the release of computer systems designed for the use in language teaching and foreign language teaching 1. COMPARE allows the user to determine the degree of correspondence between basic dictionaries of two languages so as to estimate time depth separating two genetically related languages. 2. ETS (event tracking summarizer) is a summarizer specially designed to provide user with coherent summaries of fiction texts reflecting main events that happened to the personages. 3. PASS (Partially Automated Symmetric Summarization) 4. TITE (Translation in Teaching English) PASS and TITE are network computer systems designed to facilitate interaction between the teacher and student in the process of foreign language teaching. Unlike local systems distributed on CDs these systems can be used to teach unlimited number of students simultaneously. They can be easily integrated into existing foreign language curricula. The systems can be used in teaching any language based on Latin or Cyrillic alphabets and can be adjusted to different levels of language proficiency. The systems generate statistical data about students' mistakes thus providing the teacher with important feedback about students' progress. All these computer systems work on Windows platform. Detailed information about the systems is available at http://vetsky.narod.ru/CLL.html Viatcheslav Yatsko Ph.D., Prof. Head of CLL at KSU slavay@khsu.ru iatsko@gmail.com |
