Support Description: LabEx Empirical Foundations of Linguistics (EFL) at University Sorbonne, France, is offering a doctoral position for a PhD-student interested in the phonetics and phonology of French. The more specific research questions deal with phonetic reduction in French in continuous speech, its intra- and inter-speaker variability, and links between phonetic reduction, speech prosody, and speech intelligibility.

Details:
The position will be fully funded for three years and be located in Paris, France. The PhD project will be jointly supervised by Dr. Martine Adda-Decker and Dr Cécile Fougeron at LPP (Phonetics and Phonology lab), a CNRS research lab at Sorbonne Paris Cité University. The successful candidate will further benefit from the highly stimulating and interdisciplinary LabEx EFL research environment, and in particular, from regularly organized series of Labex EFL lectures given by internationally invited professors. The PhD thesis can be written in French or English.

Requirements:
Candidates should posses:
- master's degree in Speech Sciences;
- preferably native or near-native competence in French;
- demonstrated success in undertaking a personal research project.

Other requirements:
Knowledge and skills in acoustic and/or articulatory data processing (ultrasound, video, egg...), computer sciences, and statistical analysis would be beneficial.
