"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. Program Description: The CLCLP (Computational Linguistics and Chinese Language Processing) Ph.D. Program is one of TIGP programs. This program offers an internationally competitive curriculum specializing in Chinese Computational Linguistics, and the program provides advanced training and research opportunities for leading international Ph.D. students.
Available Financial Aid: The assistantship is initially set at the maximal level of NT$32,000 (roughly US$980) per month for the first year. Second and third year students will receive assistantship at either this maximal level or a lower level based on their academic performance and service in the past year. Fourth year students will be funded directly by his/her thesis director.
