"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. Program Description: We offer MA courses in Slavonic languages as well as supervision of MPhil and PhD dissertations in Slavonic linguistics. Undergraduates doing degrees in Russian studies can also elect a series of linguistics modules covering the history and structure of Russian.
Available Financial Aid: Fee bursaries and some additional funding available to permanent residents of the UK and other EU countries. Some partial fee bursaries and limited opportunities to compete for additional funding are available to non-EU residents.
