Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. Program Description: The Linguistics Program at Boğaziçi University offers courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Those who complete the undergraduate requirements receive a certificate. At the graduate level, the Program confers MA and Ph.D. degrees. Courses at all three levels include phonology, morphology, syntax and discourse analysis, with interrelation with fields such as psycholinguistics, philosophy and computer science being possible. The main line of research in the program is aimed at investigating the nature of the rules and principles that determine the structure of Turkish.
