| Program Description: | The Linguistics Program at Eastern Michigan University is a general linguistics program, providing the student with a strong foundation in all the major branches of linguistics, including phonetics/phonology, syntax, semantics, typology, text linguistics and discourse analysis. Because it is the home of The LINGUIST List, there is considerable emphasis on the use of computers in linguistics, and, because of the EMELD grant, a growing emphasis on fieldwork on endangered languages and the digitization of language data. |
| Available Financial Aid: | Teaching and research assistantships available. Also 6-8 assistantships for research assistants of The LINGUIST List. Students interested in computer applications in linguistics are encouraged to apply for these. No programming experience is necessary. See: http://linguistlist.org/opportunities.html |
