| Program Description: | The department of Linguistics at the University of Hawaii is dedicated to the study of how language works, including how it is acquired, how it is used, how it changes over time, and how it is represented in the mind. Areas of particular strength are Austronesian and Asian languages, language and cognition, and field linguistics. |
| Available Financial Aid: | Most of our graduate students recieve financial aid from the department. Types of assistantship include teaching and research assistantships, tuition wavers, Pacific-Asian scholarships, and the Department of Linguistics Endowment Fund. |
