"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. Meeting Description: The 2nd Conference on English Language and Anglophone Literatures Today (ELALT 2) will be held in Novi Sad, Serbia on March 16, 2013. The host institution will be the Department of English Studies at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Novi Sad.

We are pleased to announce that the following keynote speakers have confirmed their participation at the Conference:

Zoltán Kövecses, Eötvös Loránd University
Darko Suvin, McGill University

The full conference fee is 40 euros, and there is a reduced fee for students of 20 euros. Early registration, paid until February 15, 2013, is 30 euros. The conference fee includes participation at all sessions of the conference, the conference package (book of abstracts, conference programme, map of Novi Sad, etc.), light refreshments during coffee breaks and lunch. All participants are expected to pay their own travel and accommodation costs.
