"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. The Division of Linguistics of the Department of Mediterranean Studies of the University of the Aegean is pleased to announce the 11th International Conference on Greek Linguistics, to be held in Rhodes, from 26 to 29 September 2013.

The conference will also feature a) a pre-conference workshop for MA and PhD students, to be held on Thursday 26 September and b) a small number of thematic workshops to be held in parallel with the main conference (from 27 to 29 September 2013).
