"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. Meeting Description: Le département de langues et littératures romanes de l’université de Zurich organise pour la septième année consécutive le Dies Romanicus Turicensis, qui s’adresse aux jeunes chercheurs et chercheuses, aussi bien en linguistique qu’en littérature, et propose de favoriser les échanges internationaux.

El Seminario de Lenguas y Literaturas Románicas de la Universidad de Zúrich se complace en organizar, por séptima vez, el Dies Romanicus Turicencis: jornadas de estudio dirigidas a jóvenes especialistas cuya labor investigadora se circunscribe al campo de la lingüística y al de la literatura con el propósito de ofrecer un intercambio en ambas disciplinas a nivel internacional.
