|Meeting Description:||The 5th International Conference on the Linguistics of Contemporary English (ICLCE 5) will be held September 25-29, 2013, at the University of Texas at Austin.
The attention devoted to the linguistics of the English language has resulted in a broad body of work in diverse research traditions. The aim of the ICLCE conference is to encourage the cross-fertilization of ideas between different frameworks and research traditions, all of which may address any aspect of the linguistics of contemporary English. Previous ICLCE conferences were held in Edinburgh (2005), Toulouse (2007), London (2009), and Osnabrück (2011) along the same lines. As ICLCE moves west of the Atlantic Ocean for the first time, we hope to build on these successes.
The following speakers have agreed to deliver plenary addresses at ICLCE 5:
John Beavers (University of Texas at Austin)
Alexander Bergs (University of Osnabrück)
Jan Blommaert (Tilburg University) abstract
Barbara Johnstone (Carnegie Mellon University)
Hans Lindquist (Malmö University)
Masayoshi Shibatani (Rice University)
|Linguistic Subfield:||General Linguistics|
