"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. Meeting Description: The 15th Seoul International Conference on Generative Grammar will take place at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul, Korea from Wednesday, August 7 through Saturday, August 10 of 2013. The conference will be co-hosted by the Korean Generative Grammar Circle and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.

The conference will consist of a general session, a workshop, and a series of lectures from the keynote speaker. The theme of the general session is ‘Universals and Parameters’. The confirmed keynote speaker will be Professor David Adger from Queen Mary, University of London, and the theme of his talk is ‘Primitives of Syntactic Structure’.
