"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. This annual international workshop focuses on various aspects of psycholinguistics, including but not limited to human language processing and acquisition. The majority of the presentations in the past were on Japanese and English but studies on other languages are very welcome.

All the morning sessions and part of the afternoon sessions on August 3 are given in Japanese. English sessions start in the afternoon on August 3 and continue until August 4. A poster session is scheduled in the evening of August 3. Note that this schedule is tentative and subject to change depending on the number of applications.


Registration becomes possible through the MAPLL2013 website (Under construction, http://home.hiroshima-u.ac.jp/~cbl/MAPLL2013/index.html) from June. Pre-registration is not necessary but is highly encouraged.
