"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. Manchester Forum in Linguistics (mFiL)
15-16 November 2013

The Manchester Forum in Linguistics (mFiL) is an annual event which aims to bring together new researchers, including post-graduate students, post-doctoral researchers and early career researchers, to present current work, from any field of linguistics, and importantly, to offer advice and information to support new researchers.

The event includes the presentation of papers, posters, plenary talks and a careers panel, as well as a dinner and drinks.

Early bird registration is £30 and ends on 30th September. From 1st October registration will be £35. Conference dinner can also be booked here at a cost of £15.
