"Buenos dias", "buenas noches" -- this was the first words in a foreign language I heard in my life, as a three-year old boy growing up in developing post-war Western Germany, where the first gastarbeiters had arrived from Spain. Fascinated by the strange sounds, I tried to get to know some more languages, the only opportunity being TV courses of English and French -- there was no foreign language education for pre-teen school children in Germany yet in those days. Meeting Description: The Department of Modern Philology and FITISPos Research Group of the University of Alcalá (Spain) are pleased to announce the 1st International Young Researchers’ Conference on Translation and Interpreting. The conference will be held in Guadalajara, Spain, on 7 and 8 November 2013, and will gather young researchers in the field of Translation and Interpreting in order to offer the opportunity to share and discuss their current research. It is also conceived as a national and international forum to meet up and establish a network for future research.


The conference will take place at the Facultad de Educación, Guadalajara Campus, University of Alcalá (Spain).

Academic Programme:

The conference will include:

- General plenary sessions on theoretical and practical issues in Translation and Interpreting research
- Panel discussions with the contribution of keynote speakers
