Klingon Bread

This dark, hearty vegan bread is not for wussies. Serve with prune juice right before battle (or for breakfast, with almond butter).


5 cups whole wheat pastry flour
1/2 cup buckwheat flour
1 cup rolled oats
3 tsp baking powder
At least 1/2 cup chopped dates
1 tsp cardamom
1 cup organic applesauce
About 1/3 package soft tofu
1/3 cup molasses
About 2 cups water

Cooking Instructions

Singing Klingon drinking songs, combine the whole wheat flour, buckwheat flour, and baking powder. Add oats, dates, and cardamom.

In another bowl, mash the tofu and mix in the applesauce and molasses. Combine with the dry ingredients with enough water to make a consistency that allows itself to be spooned with some reluctance.

Bake in two large loaf pans at 450 Kelvin (350 F) until a taj inserted comes out clean, up to one standard Earth hour. (Make the necessary adjustments if you do not live near sea level on a class M planet.)
