Story behind this recipe

This recipe is from my great-grandmother Bertha, who was originally from the Ukraine. No-one knows where she found the recipe; she stored it in her head until my grandmother asked her to write it down. To this day I regret not paying attention more when she was speaking Yiddish, since I knew her in the good old days during the critical period.
These are extremely addictive, so make lots.

1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
4 eggs
1 tbsp vinegar
1 tsp vanilla
4 cups flour

Cooking Instructions

Beat together oil, sugar, and salt. Then add vinegar, vanilla, and eggs one at a time. Stir in baking powder. Stir in flour, beating until the stiffness of the dough makes it impossible to keep going. Roll out thinly 1/8 inch thick, and cut into shapes. (Dinosaurs are my favorite). Decorate with sprinkles, cinnamon or chocolate. Bake at 400°F for about 10 minutes, until just barely golden.
Makes several dozen cookies. These cookies store well in plastic bags.
