Editor for this issue: James Yuells <jameslinguistlist.org>
We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

Dear Subscribers,
Does anyone know of any free or commercial software that would decompose
English, German and/or Dutch compounds?
Thanks a lot for your help!

I understand that the Japanese government, perhaps the Ministry of Education,
not only has a list of which kanji a high-school graduate must know, but has
these subdivided by grade level. Can anyone tell me how I could get a copy of
the list, preferably in computer-readable format?
