I am posting on behalf of a student who is conducting research on borrowings of English words into Russian, and semantic changes in borrowed words in the 1990s. We would be grateful to get references on: - social and cultural triggers for borrowing (i.e. not Sprachnot) - recent references (after 96) on borrowing - (especially) semantic adaptation in borrowings

Hi everybody!

I'm trying to account for Russian scrambling effects with the help of LF movement to theta-position and to discuss the A/A-bar distinction in this connection. I am desperately in need of reference material on the topic (especially in English and French) I promise to post a summary. Any help is welcome!
