We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

Dear Friends,
I am looking for a current reference discussing how difficult or
arbitrary it is to define word, with a particular focus on
English. Does anyone know of a fairly current journal article or book
that talks about this?
thanks,
Jerry

Does anyone know of any reliable research showing the effect of class size on
achievement in the second-language classroom?
Any leads would be appreciated.
