We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. Dear Linguists

I have been working on the project

    " Metaphors Chinese Politicians Live By(1949-present) "

inspired by Professor Lakoff's conceptual theory of metaphor . I'll be grateful and most appreciated if any one can offer me some references on this topic.

Muriel Saville-Troike in "The Ethnography of Communication: An Introduction," Second Edition 1989, Blackwell, cites a study by Chiu, Rosaline K. 1972. Dear all on LINGUIST,

Can someone point me to material (studies, books, recent articles etc.) on the sociolinguistic topic language and identity please. I am particularly interested in language and identity in relation to German (e.g. Austria, Switzerland, Belgium etc. etc.). - Perhaps someone is currently working on that topic?

    Many thanks!
