Qs: SOV/Wh-movement, Movies/Intro Ling Courses

Editor for this issue: Karen Milligan <karenlinguistlist.org>

We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

I'm in search of languages that have a basic word order of SOV and also
have obligatory wh-movement. If you have names and references for these
languages, I'd appreciate it.

Dear Linguists,

Is anyone out there using movies in conjunction with introductory
Linguistics courses? If so, please tell me which movie you're using
and why you're using it. I will be happy to share this information
with the rest of the list. Thanks!

John Grinstead
