The graduate programme ("Graduiertenkolleg", GK) in linguistics at the University of Frankfurt/Main offers two post-doc positions and 8 doctoral research grants. The GK has as its focus of research "Sentence types: variation and interpretation" and will start on April 1, 2001.

The role of the postdocs in the GK is to facilitate cross-discipline doctoral research. Postdocs will be expected to coordinate and support dissertation projects in more than one sub-discipline. One postdoctoral position is reserved for "Syntax/Typology" research. Applicants for this position should have significant expertise in both the formal theory of grammar and in language typology. The other position is for "Semantics/pragmatics". Again applicants for this position should have significant expertise in both formal semantics and pragmatics.

Information (in German) about the sub-projects of the graduate programme can be found on the internet under http://www.rz.uni-frankfurt.de/FB/fb10/grad_koll/.

Applications are to be sent by December 31, 2000, to the head of the graduate programme, Prof. Dr. G. Grewendorf, Institut fr Deutsche Sprache und Literatur II, Universitt Frankfurt, Grfstr. 76, 60054 Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
