I am interested in sources that discuss "baby sign". I am not talking about infants that are learning ASL or some other established sign language but self-invented signs (or collaborative signs created in the context of significant relationships). I am not necessarily talking about hearing-impaired or speech-impaired children either. Thanks for any help. Will post results if there is interest.

I'm looking for references to a 1973 and a 1974 paper by someone by the name of Williams, who studied the effects of dialect differences on teachers' evaluations of students. Please respond to kevinmapquest.com. Thank you!
