Subject: gender differences in care-giver speech

    Hi,

Does anyone know about certain effects of gender related child directed speech? I want to write a term paper about this, and I was wondering if mothers talk differently to boys or girls. If anyone has some experience on the field of gender related language acquisition, I would be more than thankful to get some helpful hints concerning theory or speech samples.

    Thanks in advance,

    Marc

I would be grateful to receive reference details (volume, issue, location -city-, pages) for the article by Louis-Jean Calvet: "De l'extension des termes 'creole' et 'pidgin' a certaines varietes vehiculaires. Une critique du point de vue de l'ecologie linguistique". The article appeared in "Etudes Creoles" last year (2000). Thank you. Daniel BARRAGAN Universidad de Guadalajara
