    Lecturer in Literacy

    The Department of Linguistics at the State University of New York at Stony Brook is looking to hire a full-time Lecturer in Literacy (non-tenure track), as part of our NY State TESOL Certification program and the Professional Education Program that coordinates teacher education across disciplines at Stony Brook.

    Qualification: Ph.D. or ABD in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Reading, or TESOL. NY State TESOL certification or reciprocal equivalent is highly desirable; Prior experience working with teacher education programs a must.

    Teaching and Service Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities involve teaching language and literacy development courses that are required of all undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in a wide variety of Certification programs across campus. The candidate will be expected to teach 3 courses in the areas of Language Acquisition and Literacy Development per semester. In-service professional development of teachers, and curriculum design and implementation are also expected.

    Research: Presentation of papers at national and international conferences is expected, thus candidates with research interests are highly desirable. Demonstrated success in securing outside grants is highly desirable.
