Japanese Position at The George Washington University

The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at The George
Washington University invites applications for a full-time
instructor/assistant professor position in Japanese Linguistics,
Modern Literature or Culture for a three-year period, academic years
2003-2006, with the possibility of renewal. Qualified candidates
should be able to teach all levels of Japanese language. The
successful candidate will be required to carry a teaching load of six
semester courses per year including language courses and courses in
her/his own area of specialization in a growing program that offers
both majors and minors in Japanese Language and Literature.
Applicants must have native or near-native command of both Japanese
and English and with advanced degrees in hand or within one year of
appointment. Review of applications will begin on December 15, 2002,
and will continue until the position is filled. Letter of interest,
CV, samples of writing and publications, and three letters of
