Linguistics and English Language Teaching Position in Mie, Japan.
The Division of English Language and Literature, Faculty of Humanities
and Social Sciences, Mie University announces two tenure-track
positions (three-year contract (renewable) without Japanese
citizenship) at the assistant/associate professor level, beginning
April 1, 2003.
1. Teaching:
(i) English skill courses in the university-wide English curriculum
(ii) Undergraduate and graduate (MA) linguistics and
linguistics related courses
2. Rank: Associate/assistant professor
3. Qualifications:
A prospective candidate must
(i) specialize in linguistics or applied linguistics,
(ii) have a Ph.D. (preferred) or at least an MA with teaching
and/or research experiences for two years after receiving the degree,
(iii) have a strong research profile to teach at the graduate level,
(iv) be proficient in Japanese, if s/he is a native speaker of
English,
(v) and be capable of coordinating the university-wide English
curriculum with part-time lecturers whose native language is English,
if s/he is a native speaker of English.
4. Required documents (either in English or in Japanese):
(i) Curriculum vitae (a photo attached)
(ii) List of publications, oral presentations and others (list them
under respective categories)
(iii) A copy of all the publications
(iv) An abstract each of the five selected publications (200
words/abstract in English, or 400 characters/abstract in Japanese)
(v) An essay stating your aspirations for research and teaching (two
pages, double-spaced on A4 in English, or 1,500 characters in
Japanese)
(vi) A statement of your proficiency in Japanese, if you are a
non-native speaker of Japanese.
5. Starting date: April 1, 2003
6. Deadline: Application materials must arrive by October 15, 2002
