    Brown University seeks candidates for the position of Director of the Language Resource Center. The LRC Director will supervise all aspects of planning and operational functioning of the Language Resource Center, including: personnel; acquisition and cataloguing of holdings; hardware and software; budgeting and grants. The LRC Director is the primary advocate for language technologies on campus.

    Summary of Position: - 12 month full-time staff position, grade 12; - reports to Director of the Center for Language Studies; - arranges for acquisition of materials and services in support of language teaching; - consults with and trains instructors in selection and use of instructional technologies; - assists in negotiating annual LRC budget; - determines and implements LRC policies regarding technology and language teaching at Brown University; - consults on grant proposals; - assists in carrying out CLS events such as workshops and conferences; - discusses delivery of a range of services involving foreign languages and technology not directly related to University courses; - confers on a range of concerns related to the University's membership in the Consortium for Language Teaching and Learning; - shares technical, managerial and pedagogical information.

    Qualifications:

    - Advanced degree (M.A. or higher) in a relevant discipline, such as: instructional technology, foreign languages, education, second language acquisition - Experience in foreign language technologies - Experience in both Windows and Macintosh operating systems - Experience in multimedia and web development and curricular implementation - Experience with multilingual computing issues - Evidence of strong interpersonal, managerial, and organizational skills - Experience with languages or interest in language pedagogy desirable
